Decide the route before you allocate hours

A standalone IAS cohort and a full IAS-then-IA2 cohort carry different total hours budgets. Fixing this at the start of your plan avoids having to unpick allocated hours later.

What each topic needs

• Specification reference — traceable back to the actual unit spec.
• Content and stage — the specific subtopics, and whether they belong to IAS or IA2.
• Hours allocated per month — spread across the months you'll actually teach it.
• Learning outcome and assessment — what a student should be able to do, and how you'll check it.
• Key dates — the specific session (Jan / June / Oct) this unit is aiming for, plus any coursework deadlines.

Pacing against your real calendar

Because IAL entries can happen across multiple sessions in a year, a plan needs to be honest about which session each unit is actually aiming for — not just a general "sometime this year." Knowing your real periods-per-week for this class and walking that forward through your actual calendar gives you a genuine projected finish date per session, not a guess.
